The December 2025 guild meeting was a festive affair, with 60 members and visitors in attendance, bringing the total membership count to 163.

President Roy Wall opened the meeting with a warm welcome for all, extending a special greeting to new members Jon Ramsey, Russel Gould, and Chen Yan, and visitor Jim Nail from Lee’s Summit.

2025 Theme Recap: Phil Morgan recapped the themes used throughout 2025 and informed the membership that the guild will be repeating the themes in 2026.

Tools for Sale: Bob Ladue announced that he still has several items remaining from his woodworking tool collection for sale. Additionally, a friend of Jim Mullen has a lathe for sale; members can contact Jim for more information.

2026 Dues Collection

A friendly reminder was issued that 2026 Guild Dues are now being collected. The leadership is proud to announce that the annual membership fee will remain at just $20 for the year, offering incredible value for all the benefits the Guild provides.

The meeting’s highlight was the annual holiday gift giveaway! Throughout the evening, tickets were drawn every few minutes, and the winning ticket holder got to select a gift from a table piled high with woodworking-related items provided by the guild. Each member received one ticket upon signing in to participate in the exciting drawings.  A big thank you to Phil Morgan for the tireless effort he put in throughout the year gathering the quality gifts for this event.

In between the gift drawings, several popular “How-to-in-Two” videos from 2025 were shown again:

Right after the break, the guild took time to honor two long-time leaders who are stepping down:

Roy Wall was honored for his nearly 15 years of service as President of the Guild. Roy’s plaque was made from White oak to represent the strength of leadership he brought to the Guild.

John Freeland was honored for his well over 20 years of service, during which he served as President and held numerous other key roles. John’s plaque was made from Spalted Buckeye in honor of John growing up in the Buckeye state of Ohio.

Both Roy and John were presented with plaques and thank you cards signed by the entire membership present at the December meeting, recognizing their many years of immense contributions to the Lee’s Summit Woodworkers’ Guild.

The evening was punctuated by the ever-popular Show and Tell session. Once again, members proudly showed off their incredible talent, displaying a wonderful array of their latest projects. All of the Show & Tell projects brought in by the membership can be viewed in the 2025 gallery located here.
