Andy, of Chidwick School of Fine Woodworking, is one of the main featured seminar speakers at this year’s Woodworking Shows. Andy is offering a bonus Woodworking Coach session called the “Skills Clinic” on Thursday night, January 24, before the show begins. This high-energy two hour event is hosted by a the Kansas City Woodworkers Guild and features hands-on tips and tricks to make your woodworking easier, more professional, and ultimately more valuable.
The KCWG guild meetings are held at our shop at 3189 Mercier, KCMO

Jay Helland, a LS Woodworkers Guild Member, will be offering a free segmented bowl making demo at Woodcraft in Lenexa, Kansas starting at 1 PM on Saturday, Feb. 2. The one hour class will show you the basics of how to cut stave segments (compound miters) using a table saw and sled. The class is offered to hopefully get you started in your segmented bowl making journey. In addition, for those who wish to capapolt themselves into the process, Woodcraft will be offering two-day class the weekend of February 24 and 25, 2013. 8 a.m.-10 a.m. An “American” Brunch at “On The Border” Restaurant(1800 NW Chipman Rd.) (Make your Brunch reservation on the show application).
10:00 a.m. Show continues.
10:30 a.m. Purchase Awards – a limit of three entries per registered carver per award.
1:00 p.m. Carving Auction – Actual live auction with Auctioneer.
4:15 p.m. Drawing for the Chance Carving of the Fireman by Lynn Doughty.
5:00 p.m. Show ends.
Competition/Judging
*Participants must be registered, in attendance, and exhibit their own work; only ribbons won at this year’s show may be displayed. Entries may not be entered in more than one category. First, Second, and Third places will be awarded for all categories and Best of Show.
*Participants may have up to two entries per category. Entries should be taken to the judging table 15 minutes prior to the category’s judging.
*I.D. signatures must be covered. Provide table # and category being entered. Remove entries promptly after judging. Previous 1st place KCWCC carvings may not be entered.
