An important safety recall was announced regarding “beyond bright lights” from Home Depot. These lights have been reported to melt when plugged in. Members are advised to remove these lights and return them to Home Depot immediately.

🧰 How-To in Two
Roy Wall presented the 5 cut method. This method enables you to dial in the accuracy of a sled or miter gauge on your table saw and ensure perfectly square cuts every time. The video can be viewed here.
🧠 Program: Jay Helland presented a basic course on hand planes and how to remove the warp from a plank using hand planes
This month’s program featured Jay Helland, a lifelong woodworker and former industrial arts teacher in the Lee’s Summit School District. Jay’s presentation covered the different types and styles of hand planes, along with a guide for dating Stanley Bailey planes. These planes are considered the gold standard and their design forms the basis for modern tools like those from Lie-Nielsen. Jay further detailed the importance and differences between tools such as the scrub plane and smoothing plane while demonstrating how to remove warp from a walnut plank.
