Benefits of Membership
⭐ The Value of Guild Membership
The Lee’s Summit Woodworking Guild currently has a membership of approximately 130 people. We meet once a month on the second Tuesday of every month. Our average attendance ranges from 60 to 100 people per meeting, but we want to emphasize that membership is not required to attend our monthly meetings.
Membership Details and Benefits
Annual membership dues are $20.00 and are based on the calendar year (January 1st through December 31st). At mid-year (July 1st), the price is reduced to $10.00.
When you become a member, you unlock several benefits:
- Discounts: Membership entitles you to special discounts at participating local and online woodworking supply retailers.
- Instructional Content: Members have access to member only content through our website covering numerous wood working topics and presentations from nationally known woodworking experts.
Supporting the Craft:
Most of the membership dues go toward covering the various operational costs associated with running the guild, such as rental space for the meetings and paying speaker fees. A significant portion also goes toward funding our “Tools for Teens” program, which helps support the Lee’s Summit School District by providing funds for tools and equipment for the industrial arts programs in the High Schools.
In addition to the practical perks listed above, being an active part of our guild offers a wealth of intangible benefits:
- A Great Resource for Knowledge and Expertise: As a wood guild grows, it accumulates a tremendous wealth of knowledge and expertise. The larger the guild, the larger the pool of experience available to draw from.
- Meet and Socialize with Fellow Woodworkers: A guild is the perfect way to meet and talk to other people who share your passion. You are likely to find someone who has already tackled the project you are considering, offering you valuable advice and helping you avoid common mistakes.
- Learn New Skills: This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from others. If you have an interest in learning a new technique or skill, there is almost certainly someone in the guild who can offer guidance on what to do and what tools you may need to get started.
